Corner cupboard policy change. The Corner Cupboard opened last year to provide residents with an additional venue for food (i.e., a small grocery store) and thus added value for their food card. Residents that could not find specific items were encouraged to call the kitchen and if available, the kitchen would provide such items and charge it to the resident's food card. Indeed, it has worked that way for several months. The food service recently announced to some residents that from now on, items ordered through the kitchen were considered catering items and were to be charged directly to the residents bill and not the green meal card. Not everyone got this information and a general letter is being prepared. Until the letter is out and the policy understood - caveat emptor

Salt for thought. If you are not yet aware of the importance of limiting salt intake (it is never too late) read the summary here. For folks age 70 and over, the DAILY salt intake should be less than 1200 mg - that is for everything combined. Thus. it is important to know exactly how much salt is in every portion of food you eat - ask your server how many miligrams of salt are in each serving to get an idea how much you are consuming; just one bowl of Broadmead soup could bring you close to the daily total of 1200 mg of salt!  Get the details here.
