Pianist Lura Johnson, who has recently been named a Steinway Artist, and who has established herself as one of the Mid-Atlantic’s most prominent ensemble pianists, will be featured in a solo performance here on Wednesday, January 11 at 7 p.m.

Sponsored by the Broadmead Residents Association as part of its annual series, Johnson performs regularly with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Marin Alsop, and has collaborated on recordings with Yo Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman. She is principal pianist for the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and has performed as a soloist with regional orchestras in Maryland, Ohio, Delaware and Massachusetts. She currently serves as artistic director of Music in the Great Hall, a Baltimore chamber music series at the Towson Unitarian Universalist Church, and serves on the faculty of the Peabody Conservatory.
Her Broadmead program entitled “Variations on Variations” will feature works by Mozart, Bach, Bermel, Schumann and Brahms.
